my brand new HID auto bulb is somewhat "moving"(it’s light result does). is my HID kit busted? what will i do?

a Ford mechanic said that i could have ran into a lightning burst near my car and it affected my electrical system. by the way, i am changing my alarm system since then. is this possible? does it also affect my HID headlights?

I need to know if Philips CrystalVision Ultra headlight bulbs look blue like HID or Xenon bulbs.?

What do they look like, color wise and where can I buy them. I am in north carolina so not but soo muny places i can go.

HID is High Intensity Discharge, Xenon is the gas used in HID bulbs.

The color is actually done by "Temperature" The temperature is in Kelvins. Different manufacturers call different colors different things. This is a general description of the colors.

Remember that this is a "guideline" and Manufacturer A’s 8000K color doesn’t have to match Manufacturer B’s 8000k. Although you wouldn’t be able to tell unless you put them next to each other.

3000k – Yellow
4300k – White
6000k – White (slight blue tint — this is the default)
8000k – White (more blue)
10000k – White (even more blue)
12000k – Blue (with a hint of white)
12000k+ Blue -> Purple area

Legality of HID conversion kits?

I’ve spent the last 2 hours scanning over countless forums and websites trying to find reliable information regarding the legality of HID conversions. On one hand I find that HID lights are only legal for street use if they were installed in the vehicle at the factory. I’ve also found information stating that they are legal as long as you don’t exceed the Kelvin color rating limit in your state (this one sounds the least believable to me). Lastly another source stated that HID conversions are legal as long as you are using the bulbs in an HID lens/reflector housing and not in a standard halogen reflector. Does anyone know the truth about the legality of installing an HID conversion kit?!

The particular vehicle in question for HID conversion is my 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sport. The stock halogens are horrifyingly dim even when compared with a fake 55watt blue tinted "Xenon" bulb.

I’m also in Kansas if the laws are at state level instead of federal.

The HID kit and subsequent headlamps (you WILL need to replace the lamp housings) must be DOT approved to be legal. It has nothing to do specifically with factory installations, or Kelvin rating, the kit and lamp housing must be DOT approved.

Now, here’s where the "legal only from the factory" thing comes in: I don’t think there’s a single HID kit or projector housing out there that’s DOT approved.

Is there any security device to stop thieves from stealing HID lights off of cars?

I want to buy a acura tl or rl but they have HID lights and thieves will travel far just to steal them and all you have to do is pop them out with a screw driver

unless you have a real good alarm system on it ,they can get them,,i had some,and i know what you mean,even a cheap pocket knife will pop them off,but the only way i know of is to take them off and take them in with you when your away from the car,,other wise they can get them,,bad design isn’t it,i got rid of mine because of this,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Your best bet is to just get bulbs unless the Hid’s you currently have now is not working out the way you thought. The kit that i have i loooooooooove! hasn’t went out. I bought my kit from.

Yes the H4/9003 bulb is the same plug. They both have the 3 prong setup.
